About the National Costumers Association
Over 80 years of supporting the costuming industry all over the nation.

The National Costumers Association was organized on August 24, 1923, bringing together a small group of costumers dedicated to upgrading and promoting the costume industry. Through the years both the association and the industry have grown in size and scope. The chief objectives of the NCA today are:

Establish and maintain professional and ethical standards of business in the costume industry. Encourage and promote a greater and more diversified use of costumes in all fields of human activity. Provide trade information, cooperation and friendship among its members together with a sound public relations policy. We are involved in a very complex industry. Theatrical, masquerade, dance, academic and religious are only a few of the different kinds of costumers in business today. Add to all of this a variety of sidelines - flags, party favors, magic, balloons, fabrics, trims and novelties and an attempt to classify our industry proves impossible.

You're invited to share our experiences by becoming a member of the NCA. We're sure you'll find it fun, informative, and well worth your while. We wish you the best and look forward to your membership in the NCA!

What Our Members Say About Us.....

"The NCA provides the comfort in knowing there is someone to talk to about problems. There are creative people with creative minds to bounce ideas off of along with problem-solving."
Donna Dauria, Boston Costume, Boston, Massachusetts

"I used to know nothing about costuming. I am amazed at the variation of what we learned from others. We are all individual shops, but we share - we pull from each other. I couldn't have done it on my own!"
Ken Fox, Magic Makers, Huntington, West Virginia

"The NCA means sharing. Everything from tips, techniques, information, sources, merchandise - to companionship, friendship and enthusiasm. I always come back from a gathering full of new ideas and with renewed vigor. Besides, it's fun!"
Irene Fallon, Fallon Costume Co., Jackson, California

"My grandfather was one of the founders of the NCA. The NCA is a close-knit family, I know I can trust the members. I bought a company that is a member of NCA just so I could stay in the organization."
    Susan Zander Liebrader, Westminster, California

"The NCA gives me valuable education and gives me a way to meet other people in the costume business."
Lucille Nerron Moir, Act One, Oakland, California

"The NCA lets you know you're not alone in this crazy business. There are others just like you!"
Dwayne Ibsen, Ibsen Costume Gallery, Omaha, Nebraska
